Becoming a lifeguard means accepting a commitment to maintain a safe and friendly environment for all to enjoy. It is a responsibility that involves everything from saving lives to balancing the water chemistry to maintaining a clean, litter-free area. You will be expected to perform a variety of tasks and will be given the opportunity to better your overall self, as well as the community in which you are working. You will be encouraged to be professional, enthusiastic and friendly while not only growing as a person, but also contributing to the growth of our entire team. We are representatives of each other, and therefore we must each accept our responsibilities and do our share to help each other.

Some of the duties you will be responsible for are listed here.

  • Lifeguard the pool
  • Reading and recording water chemistry tests every two hours
  • Cleaning bathrooms daily and inspect hourly
  • Straightening furniture throughout each day
  • Monitoring pool and grounds daily while looking for potential hazards
  • Collecting lost and found items each evening
  • Straightening lost and found area/table when necessary
  • Picking up trash around the pool area and surrounding grounds daily
  • Emptying garbage bins daily and dispose of properly
  • Monitoring the pressure readings daily on the filter system
  • Backwash when indicated
  • Vacuum pool as designated
  • Keeping deck and sidewalks free of debris and trash
  • Emptying pump basket per schedule
  • Clean and brush pool walls, steps and fill line tile
  • Keep inventory of all supplies
  • Skim and clean baby pool and/or spa
  • Place all umbrellas in upward position when opening
  • Place all umbrellas in downward position when closing
  • Call rest period 10 minutes before the hour during pool hours each day to allow children to have a break and adults the chance to swim by themselves.
  • Knowledge of how to exercise maximum care and good judgment in preventing accidents/incidents
  • Ability to enforce all rules and regulations of both the facility and the company
  • Keeping Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certifications current and up to date each season
  • Set up for swim meets and assist in clean up after each home meet
  • Sit at sign-in desk, monitor member sign-ins and collect guest fees

NOW HIRING FOR 2007

We begin accepting applications and hiring lifeguards and monitors in January of each year. All lifeguards must have current certification for Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR. Applicants may obtain certification through us or through an American Red Cross class. Monitor positions are also available and this position does not require certification, but will be responsible completing all company educational seminars. All employees must also complete a 3 day training and orientation session once hired. Applications can be submitted online.
